.Madame X released “Just That Type of Girl“, their first single from the self titled album Madame X on Atlantic Records in the late 80s. “Just That Type of Girl”, quickly climbed the dance and R&B Charts to #4 Billboard. The group’s producer, Bernadette Cooper from the Solar/MCA group Klymaxx, organized the group as she and the Madame X members envisioned the group’s concept. The Klymaxx sound heard on such hits as “The Men All Pause” and “Meeting In The Ladies Room” was blended with Madame X’s music and fashion personas to create a brand new sound. Group members, Iris Parker, Valerie Victoria and Alisa Randolph brought with them artful inspiration and vintage sass, similiar to what you may have though of Labelle in their eclectic hey day.. , their bold fashion and mysticism. Another essential element in the group’s sound and style is their shared love for the music of artists like Prince, Parliament-Funkadelic, Sly and The Family Stone and Grace Jones. Passing up their opportunity to sign to Solar Records, Madame X was snapped up by Sylvia Rhone, who headed the Atlantic Records’ R&B division. When Madame X debuted their imagery was ground-breaking and they influenced the artistic standards in the R&B and Hip-Hop scene. Following up the release of Just That Type of Girl, they released the singles, “I Wonder” and “I Want Your Body” as well as the title tracks for motion pictures such as “Action Jackson” starring Sharon Stone and Vanity. Madame X’s songs continue to be played and sampled, most famously on Michael Jackson’s hit song “Keep It In The Closet”. Original CDs are cult-collected(TRANSLATION: hard to fucking find)

So .. this weekend I ran into this really cute Tangerine Sativaduring my weekly Bubba Expedition at Aardvarks Dispensary.. and damnit.. THEY WERE WIPED OUT.. I WEPT.. there is no more BUBBA.. omg.. but through my tears my usual budtender presented this lil girl.. The smell alone was is really REALLY CITRUSY.. It smelled as if I just bit into a cold fresh Florida Orange.. lol.. I usually don’t buy STRAIGHT SATIVA but i wanted to give this one a try. I got a little Earth Og too.to replace that raging INDICA thirst I had come there for, but SuperbbNess and I have reviewed that wonderful strain (Earth) a thousand times on 420Bamboobanga.. I thought I would take the time to enlighten you on this new sweet tangy tartness of Ms. Tangerine. the sativa that blew me away. It crumbles well and was cool to the touch.. I really didn’t need to put it in my grinder. I really tripped at how the actual smell and the burn smell is spot on with a real big ass tangerine.. It almost felt like incense or something.. The smell is awesome and the taste is just as sweet. Of course I mixed it ..my joints usually start sativa or hybrid and end with the knock you on your ass KUSH.. Halfway through the joint I got quite giggly and melancholy.. My head was tight and I could move away from the joint for a spell and that is an awesome sign. I would strongly suggest finding this strain in your area.. I find the high to be heavy but you are able to work with objects and hold conversations.. My mood was light and fluffy and it made me want to watch a comedy .. so I watched “Valley Girl” with NIc Cage.. hahahah. Tangerine is the shit ya’ll..

HOWEVER.. the band is more gracious.. THEY HAVE ACTUALLY ADDED an additional date 10/27..to the Palladium stop.. so now your late asses can also be there to mosh yourselves straight into HELL.LOL.. . I also appreciate that they added it before the original show.. I made moves son, so I want THE CLOSING SHOW.. We want to send our most heartfelt condolences out to the family and friends of Mr. Leroy ” SugarFoot “ Bonner, frontman and guitarist for the illustrious OHIO PLAYERS, also known as...” The Ohio Untouchables”. Mr. Bonner coined a vocal situation that would later be used by everyone from Roger Troutman to Larry Blackmon… He passed away at that age of 70 but had been touring all year and still had dates to fulfill in 2013. It is good he passed doing what he was born to do. At press time, there are still no details as to how he died but keep it here as we will be following this story and updating accordingly. We actually found out via Dawn Silva’s (Original Bride of Funkenstein’s) facebook page.
He was a beast to watch live and a survivor off of the stage.. The Ohio Players paved the way for most of the midwest funk of the 70’s and 80’s Soul eras respectively. Who can remember his vocals on joints like ““I Wanna Be Free”,“Skintight”, HELL, and Love Rollercoaster to name a few. TVONE’s award winning docu-series aired an excellent episode of “UNSUNG” featuring THE OHIO PLAYERS in 2011. Check their schedule because I am sure they will be rebroadcasting it in commemoration of a brotha , that according to Grandma on FUNKY WORM “was funkier than 9 cans of shaving powder” LOL.. We will miss you and your EPIC FRO Mr. Bonner..
